Springing Forth with a Fresh Look!

It's time for a little freshening up with the decor around the house.
Let's start with Kramer:).
Hmmm...he doesn't seem amused with that idea so let's move on to the actual decor.
The bowl on the table hosts a bouquet of dried hydrangeas from our garden last year.
The base of the bowl used to have a beautiful crystal dish attached that met it's fate one day when Kramer did a flying leap onto the edge of the table sending it tumbling to the floor in a pile of crystal ruins.

When we changed one of our light fixtures recently I thought this stained glass globe from the fixture we removed would be lovely as a dish so I attached it to the surviving base from the table tumble and, voila, a new footed bowl!
Thank goodness the crystals survived the table tumble.
What is spring without birds?
is
And what is a Victorian house without a mantel of cherubs and rose covered porcelains?
Even the bathroom got a new look!
Whether it's a cozy spot in the bedroom,

a quiet spot for correspondence to friends and family,
or a place for a lady to prepare for the day,
the beauty is in the details.
A silver vase with feathers and antique combs make for a lovely bouquet of days gone by.
 Details of curves and angles.
Hatpins of varying heights with silk roses add a bit of softness.
Each of the hatpins is a miniature piece of art.
Whether it's a graceful spray of roses and flying cherubs,
an heirloom silver brush resting on a delicate vintage doilie,
soft lace panels cascading over a window,
hidden treasures within a silver box,
shadowy designs reflecting from the rosey glow of a lamp,
or the profile of a favorite furry blog star,
the beauty is in the details.
Now that we've decorated, how about a cup of tea?
None of the decorating in this post cost a penny.
Everything was found within the house so the new look cost
$0!
Now that's priceless!

Backwards Blogging-Kramer Chronicles

Apparently Kramer has been posting blogs when I wasn't looking.
Usually I would post before and after pics of my costume projects on my Thrifty Reenactor blogspot but I'm doing this backwards and it is getting posted on this blog instead.
I think Kramer might have something to do with the mix-up (you know how this works-if there is a cat or dog in the room they get blamed for mistakes and/or bodily noises) .
Let's investigate, shall we?
A seemingly innocent looking Kramer is resting on the bed.
Notice how he can't seem to look me in the eye.
That's our first clue that he has been up to mischief.
Let's get a bit closer.
Yup, he looks innocent enough but is he really?
A bit closer and he does appear to be cat napping quietly with no indication that he has been on the computer.
But wait, what's this...
hmmm, just as I suspected!
If you look closely you can see a very sly kitty smile on his furry little lips.
I knew he was up to something!

Well anyway, since I didn't post before and after pics of the Scarlett BBQ hat on my Thrifty Reenactor blogspot I thought I would post it here instead.
What began as a simple straw hat from a local thrift store for $3...

was altered and topped off my Scarlett O'Hara BBQ dress ensemble:).
Kramer, you naughty little cat!
Stay off of my computer!

If you would like to see more pictures of the dress, jewelry, and of course, Rhett visit:

Kramer Chronicles-Still Life

Hey, it's me Kramer.
I just woke up from a nap.

Give me a minute to put on my 'catitude.'
That's more like it.
My mom's obsession with Scarlett was scary enough but you should see her latest distraction.
It's a real eye-opener!
Yup, another one of her obsessions-art.
Dad surprised her with a still-life print from a favorite artist (Linda Shepherd) for Valentine's Day
(like having a furry Valentine like me isn't enough-hmph).
She had this frame in the consignment shop and brought it home so she can frame the new print-just what she needs-another project.
I mean, it's a nice picture I suppose, but it was missing something...
 a cat!

I really think the addition of a fine furry feline makes this picture much more interesting, don't you?

Take a closer look,
I really think I'm on to something here.
I can see the painting hanging in the Louvre,
Kramer the still-life

Of course, a more natural curious cat pose might suit this picture better.

Now all I have to do is contact the artist and let her know that she needs to paint me into the picture.
Let's see who the artist is...

Calvin! Get out of the picture!
It doesn't need a dog!

Much better.
Now this is a great still-life worthy of great artists like Picatso, Leonardo da Kitty, Mary Catssat, Toulousse-Laucat, and Vincent van Cat!
Hmmm...I might be here for a while.
Could someone please get me some milk while I wait?
Until next time,
Purrs and Meows,
Kramer aka famous portraiture cat and art critic

Kramer Chronicles-Becoming Scarlett...

Hey, it's me, Kramer.
She's at it again as you can see by that machine behind me.
Yup, my mom is becoming Scarlett.
She made some sort of BBQ dress last summer of which I could not comprehend the importance.
I must say I did enjoy sitting on the green velvet while she worked, it's very soft and comfy.
But does she have to watch that blasted movie over and over again?
She says it gives her inspiration when she's working on her dresses and other Scarlett things.

Ugh!!! I can't watch it anymore!
Enough of the Scarlett and Rhett stuff already!
Why can't we watch something more entertaining like Puss in Boots!

That does it-I am taking over this blog!
If you want to see more of my mom's obsession with Scarlett then visit her other blog,

From now on this blog will officially be a Scarlett free site!
Now that I've made my sentiments known I think I'll take a nap.
You're worried about what my mom will think when she reads this?
Well Frankly my dears, I don't give a...
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
Until my mom takes control of the computer again,
Purrs and Meows,
Kramer
