Living the Victorian Life

In a world so fast paced and hectic it's nice to slow down and enjoy the simpler things.
Start with a great blend of tea...
 roses from the garden...
 and there you have it.
A relaxing Sunday afternoon with the beauty of God's earth and a steaming cup of tea:).
Enjoy!

Blessings,

Kim

BTW, the delectable chocolate and coconut  tea, Soho Blend, from Harney and Sons teas can be purchased at:

Jane Austen and Mr. Darcy

A couple of weeks ago hubby and I attended the Jane Austen tea in Charleston.
There are several old churches next to the hall where the tea was held.

A beautiful spray of flowers graced a table filled...
with delicacies of all kinds.

Guests were welcomed in Regency style.
Hubby, aka Mr. Darcy, looked on as announcements were shared about the day's event.
Mr. Darcy enjoyed some of the goodies.
(Hmmm, kinda looks like a waitor:).
Me with some of the Janeites.
A graveyard sits between the church and Gage Hall.
A glimpse out the window shows a garden of tombstones.
After tea and a sumptuous array of desserts and sandwiches hubby and I shared a comical look at how Jane might have viewed today's world and the dating tips she may have shared.
It was a lovely day.
This past weekend was the reenactment at River's Bridge with a ladies tea at an old B&B.

Reenactment at Boone Hall Plantation

The annual Battle of Secessionville Reenactment at Boone Hall is a favorite event.
This year we only went up for the day.
The ladies tea at the Cotton Dock was a treat.
The ladies donned their best dresses.
Delicious food awaited us all.
There was even a cannon ball:).

Sunrays streamed through the windows...
as some stitched...
and others played.
A wonderful presentation about wrappers was given.
One of her creations...
inspired by this mid 19th century wrapper.
After the tea hubby and I enjoyed a beautiful day on the dock.
Then it was time for lunch-homemade flat bread-yummm!
(and yes it's worth every bite even though my corset doesn't allow me to eat it all:).
Musical entertainment during lunch.

A little shopping...
and a little stopping to watch the troops march by.

After all of the excitement I decided to rest a bit in the shade of ancient oaks,
while hubby strolled through the gardens.
It was a bit bright so he borrowed my parasol:).
Then it was time to return home...
and think about having some supper.
