Kramer Chronicles-Falling into Fall Decor

Hey, it's me Kramer and I had to take over the computer again because my mom is too busy redecorating for fall.
Hmph, I really don't understand all of this seasonal stuff but here it is anyway.
Mom started with the mantel.
I guess she was in the mood to display her teapot collection.
This is mom's Crown Derby china collection.
Let me tell you it's pure talent getting from one window to the other without knocking something off.
Yup, the tea infatuation continued to the coffee table with a reproduction tea box and several slotted spoons most of which are for, what else, tea.
(don't know why it's called a coffee table in our house when everything is about tea).
Finally something besides tea stuff!
And silk flowers just for me...to chew:).
Kasey seems to be enjoying all of this chaos.
I think she's just pretending to like it to get on mom's good side and a treat.
Once mom moved to the spare bedroom Calvin joined in.
Granted if you were to come for a visit this is the room you would stay in.
Actually we have guests scheduled.
This hangs on the wall as you enter the spare bedroom.
Since it's been cooler lately
mom threw an extra dog on the bed.
Dresser in the spare bedroom.
Hmmm...I wonder where mom went.
I've been hiding behind these flowers so she doesn't redecorate me!
Uh oh, I think I hear her coming!
Whew, I got outta there just in time.
I'll just sit here in the window and nap until she's finished rearranging everything.
Until next time,
purrs and meows,
Kramer

Kramer Chronicles-Winter Whites

Hey, it's me, Kramer.
Come a bit closer, I have something to tell you but I need to be quiet about it so my mom doesn't hear.

My mom is driving me crazy!
Just when I was getting used to all the Christmas decorations she took them all down!
Now she's redoing everything in winter whites!
Yup, you know your mom is obsessed with decorating when a cat knows the term 'winter whites'.

It's pretty discouraging.

Oh no, I heard something in the living room!
I think she's at it again!

Yup, even poor Calvin looks worried!

Wouldn't her time be better spent, you know, petting me?

But no, she spends all her time arranging and rearranging everything!
Honestly, it all looks the same to me.

Of course, I do enjoy chewing on the flower arrangments...
and batting the sparkled fruit from the bowl.
Then I sit in the window and look at the camillas blooming outside.

After all that decorating mom invites people over,
I guess to show them all of the obsessive rearranging she did all day!

If I weren't hiding under the bed I might try some of that cheese.

What can I say, everywhere I look I see white!

Well enough of that.
All of this decorating talk is making me sleepy.
Thanks for visiting but it's time for my mid-morning nap.

Sweet dreams!

Ugh, even my dreams are decorated in winter whites!
Purrs and meows,
Kramer

Kramer Chronicles-It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like...

Kramer!
It's Christmas season again and my mom has been driving me crazy with all of this decorating!

I watched as she brought box after box of Christmas decorations into the house.

YIKES! She almost dropped that one!

I decided to lend a paw but then I realized more was needed...

so I lept into action!

Wow, that was a close one. I better rest for a minute.
(it's tough decorating for Christmas)!

Alright, break time is over-it's time to help unwrap the decorations.
Nothing like a little paper play to revitalize the senses!

Honestly, it looks like a bunch of junk to me.

Since everything is unwrapped I decided to watch from a distance
as mom removed everything from the mantel.

Seems odd to me that she spent so much time decorating it
just to strip it bare to redecorate it all over again!

All of this thinking and decorating has worn me out.
Come visit tomorrow to see what my mom did with all that stuff we unpacked.
Happy napping!

Autumn Splendor

Ahhh...the splendor of Autumn with it's cool temperatures, colored leaves, and of course...
 pumpkins!
I love fall!
It's a time to relax and enjoy family and friends.
As you all know, I also love to decorate:).
Fall decorating doesn't have to cost a fortune.
Adding colorful leaves or sparkly fruits to vignettes brings the glory of autumn inside.
Sprigs of leaves, red and gold flowers and faux fruits can be purchased for a minimal cost at thirft shops and discount stores.
The best part is that you can reuse them from year to year:).
Silk flowers and faux berries add a natural feel to a room and last for months:).
Pinecones are found in abundance at this time of year.
A little gold paint and they sparkle like jewels.
 Speaking of jewels...
don't forget to look in the jewelry box for autumn colored brooches that make a great fall display when grouped together in your favorite crystal bowl or just resting on a vintage doily.
Shopping year round can land some great deals for off-season decor.
This pumpkin basket was a great find for only .50 cents.
Nestle orangy pumpkins amongst greenery throughout the house.
Candles bring warmth and the fragrance of cider, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie to fall.
There's something cozy about the warm glow of candlelight on a crisp fall evening.
As whimsical Jack-o-lanterns begin to appear,
and summer's hazy days fade to autumn shadows,
we hang corn in hues of burgundy, gold, and brown as a sign of autumn welcome.
So fix a fruity fall punch...
and a hearty pot of ham and potato soup
and enjoy the harvest of beauty and splendor that this season brings!
 Happy Fall!

Autumn Porch Punch
In a pitcher mix:
One part Malibu coconut rum with three parts orange juice
Add one can each of  peaches and manderin oranges
Add 1/2 cup of marishino cherries
Mix well and pour over ice with fruit to garnish.
This same punch is just as good without the rum if you prefer a non-alcoholic drink:).

Hearty  Ham and Potato Soup
5 medium potatoes chopped
8 ounces of lean ham chopped
1/2 medium white onion chopped
3 green onions chopped
1/2 stick of butter
One quart of Buttermilk
1 1/2 cups of water
1 package of onion soup mix
1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 package instant mashed potato mix
Salt and pepper to taste

In soup pot melt butter and saute potatoes, ham, and onions for about 5 minutes. Turn heat down to medium. Add buttermilk, water, soup mix, and green onions. Mix well. Bring to a low boil and add cheese, potato mix, and salt and pepper. Mix until everything is creamy and slightly boiling. Turn heat down to medium low and cook for about 30 minutes.
