Here, There, and Everywhere!

It has been a blessed and busy few weeks!
I have missed visiting with everyone as I have been travelling, visiting family, and sewing like a mad woman!
When I return from Virginia (I leave tomorrow) I will be posting my first blogland giveaway:).
Until then here is some of what has been going on the past few weeks:

Sewing class in Spartanburg for a mid 19th century summer mantle,
1920's party Saturday night,
and more sewing Sunday.

Home for a few days while Lizzy helps me with my summer mantle project.

Then off to Atlanta to visit with family,
(Lizzy and grandma enjoying breakfast:)
(Lizzy and mom)
and book signings at Acworth Bookstore in Acworth,GA,
Broad Street Antiques Mall in Chamblee, GA
and Antiques in Old Town in Lilburn, GA.
Mr. Whiskers and me:).

Back home where I finished my summer mantle,
and cleaned and decorated for a visit from family
(both furry and human).
It's not summer without garden tomatoes!

Meanwhile hubby and his friend replaced the rotted front porch.

Family arrives for a fun visit.
Winston resting on his mommy's lap,
while Sasha smiles after pulling all of the toys from the basket.
Calvin is doing his imitation of a couch puppy.
Sasha smiling while she waits for Lizzy to abandon the toy that she now wants.
And where is Kramer you ask?
Hiding in another room, of course!
(Kasey is off somewhere sleeping).
With all of the busyness of life I think our neighbors' cat has the right idea...
an afternoon nap on a hot summer day:).

Blessings for a restful and fun summer to all of my blogland friends!
Love ya,
Kim

Sunday Wisdom

I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
May my meditation be pleasing to him,
as I rejoice in the Lord."

Discover Why...

Truer Words were never spoken.
Let me take you on a journey to the lowcountry of SC during the Victorian era where a very wealthy young woman, Emma Victoria Brown, was born and raised on a large plantation with a family secret that could cost them all their very lives.
The story follows her through trials, love, laughter, and all the things that make life worth living.
It's about being strong and doing the right thing in the face of adversity.
Even Kramer seems interested:).
I have been performing excerpts from the novel throughout the
Southeast for nearly eight years now at various venues such as churches, museums, country clubs, and teahouses.
And now the book is available telling the rest of the story.
This past Saturday we were blessed with a lovely book signing event at
Time Well Spent tea house in Summerville, SC.
Hubby accompanied me:).
I always dress in Victorian era attire for book signings and performances.
Time Well Spent is one of those special places located in an 1890s Victorian house.
My latest dress, a little 1880s number.
The stained glass corner overlooking the gardens was a favorite spot...
for both of us:).
I truly appreciate all of my blogland friends who have left kind comments about my book.
I would like to share some info about the book and upcoming book signings.
The beautiful cover of the book is due to two incredibly talented men.
My dear friend, Richard Darby, took the photograph of the Live Oak tree for the cover.
The cover design was done by Shawn Collins at Tate Publishing.
I will be travelling this summer to Petersburg, VA, Mentor/Cleveland, Ohio, and Louisville, KY to do book signings.
If any of you live in or near these areas I would love to meet you!
For more information on book signings or to purchase a signed copy of the book visit:
and like it on facebook:).
The book is available as a softcover or ebook from Tate Publishing, Amazon, Barnes & Noble and several other online bookstores.
Get your copy and discover why truer words were never spoken:).

Books...

What is it about books?
It is the words within...
 the decorative details...
the facts...
the knowledge earned...
the intrigue of a good story...
or the building of a new talent?
I love books!!!
I love the feel of a book as I peruse each page while being transported to a different time or place.
Books are a wonder and a gift providing entertainment, knowledge, guidance.
Nothing can make a rainy afternoon more enjoyable than curling up with a cup of tea on a comfy chair with a good book.
Today a little magic was added to that image for me.

After years of work and sharing the story of Emma Victoria Brown with audiences throughout the southest my novel, Truer Words, was released nationwide.
I pray that all who read Emma's story find joy, laughter, inspiration, and love.
Blessings,
Kim Poovey
