From Regency to Robert Burns

We have been history hopping for the past week:).
Last Thursday we attended a gathering at the newly rennovated Masonic Lodge.
The building is from the early 1890's and had fallen into terrible disrepair.
It was being held up by wooden poles!
As you can see after several years of work the building is once again in use.
As part of the rennovation all of the original features inside were kept.
On Friday night we were the greeters for the third and final part of a historic lecture series celebrating Beaufort's tricentennial.
Darryl and our good friend, Louise, outside of the church.
Darryl and I greet guests attending the lecture which on this night was about the Civil War.
Guests were even greeted by soldiers, both Confederate and Union.
St. Helena Episcipal Church was founded in 1712, the building was constructed in 1724.
It continues to be an active congregation to this day.
On Saturday we were off to Seabrook Island for the Jane Austen Society luncheon.
The tables were set for a delicious meal of grilled salmon over couscous with chocolate pecan pie for dessert.
My Mr. Darcy enjoying the view.
I portrayed Jane Austen and hubby was Mr. Darcy:).
Later that evening we attended a party honoring the famous Scottish poet,
Robert Burns.
After feasting on Scottish fare and visiting with friends, several people read their favorite Robert Burns poems.
Of course, all of this time travel has worn me out.
I think I'll take a hint from Kramer and catch a quick cat nap:).

Kramer Chronicles-Winter Whites

Hey, it's me, Kramer.
Come a bit closer, I have something to tell you but I need to be quiet about it so my mom doesn't hear.

My mom is driving me crazy!
Just when I was getting used to all the Christmas decorations she took them all down!
Now she's redoing everything in winter whites!
Yup, you know your mom is obsessed with decorating when a cat knows the term 'winter whites'.

It's pretty discouraging.

Oh no, I heard something in the living room!
I think she's at it again!

Yup, even poor Calvin looks worried!

Wouldn't her time be better spent, you know, petting me?

But no, she spends all her time arranging and rearranging everything!
Honestly, it all looks the same to me.

Of course, I do enjoy chewing on the flower arrangments...
and batting the sparkled fruit from the bowl.
Then I sit in the window and look at the camillas blooming outside.

After all that decorating mom invites people over,
I guess to show them all of the obsessive rearranging she did all day!

If I weren't hiding under the bed I might try some of that cheese.

What can I say, everywhere I look I see white!

Well enough of that.
All of this decorating talk is making me sleepy.
Thanks for visiting but it's time for my mid-morning nap.

Sweet dreams!

Ugh, even my dreams are decorated in winter whites!
Purrs and meows,
Kramer

Happy Birthday Beaufort!

Beaufort is 300 years old today!
Beaufort has flown beneath 7 flags to include Enlgish, Spanish, French, Scottish, American, Confederate, and South Carolina.
The Hallelujah Singers kicked off the tricentennial celebration.
As the sun set amongst Palmetto trees...
sending golden rays across the bay...
fireworks lit up the evening sky.
Happy Birthday Beaufort!

Just a note to say thank you to my dear blogland friends who always bring a smile to my face:).
Sorry I've been away for a while-I look forward to catching up with all of you soon!
Blessings,
Kim

during the time of King Herod,
Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked,
"Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?
We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him."
