Kramer Chronicles-Revisited

Kramer Chronicles-The Things I do for Attention

(originally posted April 7, 2014)

Hey, it's me Kramer.
I bet you're wondering if any of my attempts to get my mom's attention have been successful.

Ha! Don't think so. The first clue might have been that I am the one typing this post!
So let's look at some of the things that have been distracting her lately...

Presentations and book signings...

Reenactments...

And then there's that bear blog!
She actually had the nerve to let the stupid dog do a cast interview!

Here's what I think of that!

Well it's time for my nap.

Purrs and meows,

Past Thursday Post-Kramer Chronices-Sewing and Such

Hey, it's me, Kramer.
My mom has spent entirely too much time sewing dresses and petticoats lately so it looks like I'm going to have to help her.

I need to look through the fabric stash for just the right stuff.

Maybe there's something under here.

This looks like a good choice.

Which thread is the best color?

I like this one.

Let me get the scissors...

and the right size needle.

Now I need to take some measurements.

This will probbly go faster on the sewing machine.

Got to thread the needle and pull it through
(this is tough with my furry paws so I had to use my teeth)!

Time to start sewing.

And there it is...bloomers for mom.
Happy sewing!
Purrs and meows,
Kramer

Small Town Bliss

Clouds paraded across the sky as I set out for my run through town this evening. Beaufort is one of those magical places that calms the soul and makes the heart sing.
Before we moved back here in '99, I frequented Beaufort every few weeks to get my 'fix.' I had resided in NC for a decade, crying nearly every day for want of my coastal home. When visiting the Lowcountry, I stayed at the Old Point Inn on New Street, an 1898 Victorian mansion. Never had I felt more at home than in this house. Heart pine floors, a grand staircase, and sprawling double verandahs evoked a sense of peace and sanctuary I'd never experienced anywhere before.
One of my favorite memories is lounging in the wicker rocker on the verandah as an evening rain pitter pattered a rhythmic lullaby. Light from the street lamp pierced the moss draped branches of a nearby crepe myrtle sending graceful shadows across the gardens.
As much as I enjoyed the tranquil ambience of the Inn's porch, I longed to have a home of my own in the historic district. But this was merely a dream as we didn't live here at the time. Still, I held that passion in my heart with hopes that dreams could come true.
Fifteen years would pass before the Lord blessed us with Faith Cottage, a small 1890s Victorian. I have treasured our years in this modest, yet capacious, abode.
After my run as this evening, I perched upon the wicker settee as a long forgotten memory infiltrated my soul. Rain tiptoed along the roof line in a rhythmic cadence lulling me into a state of repose. The soft cascade of raindrops amidst the shadowy light of street lamps peeking through the crepe myrtle in our front yard transported me back to the evenings on the verandah of the Old Point Inn. This evening's sites, sounds, and visions were the same as those experienced nearly twenty years prior. What a blessing to be able to relax on the front porch of our century old cottage whilst serenaded by a peaceful winter rain shower.
Never lose site of your passions or your dreams.

Past Thursday Post!

Kramer Chronicles-Christmas Decor Overload!
And my SAGA continues!
Mom and dad both spent days putting up Christmas decorations while the dogs and I looked on.

It all started with lots of junk, junk, junk!
I mean, come on, who keeps a giant egg?
Well before I knew it mom had the egg all decorated and sitting in an antique silver cup.
(she seemed really proud of herself so who was I to burst her bubble?)
I keep hearing her talk about being on a budget which I hope doesn't apply to my Christmas catnip!
She was very determined to use what she had around the house.
Then she took a little Christmas tree, hung antique keys and vintage crystals from it, and stuck it in a silver sugar bowl.
All of this she used to decorate the mantel that she just finished undecorating!
To be perfectly honest I was getting kind of bored (not to mention I was beginning to wonder about my mom's sanity with all this undecorating and redecorating).

So I went to my window seat and did a little bird-watching...
some surfing...
and some napping.
And what to my wondering eyes did appear when I awoke a few hours later?
 Christmas decor galor!
I thought this vignette needed a little Kramer:).
Even the coasters were decorated!

Only my mom would buy a vintage red peacock at thrift store.

By nightfall everything looked pretty cozy.

Total cost for this room, $3.50.
So I sat back and enjoyed all the splendor.
All of this coziness is making me sleepy.
I think it's time for a nap!
Come back tomorrow to see the next room!
